Special Interest Groups

As noted on our home page, most "on site" SIG meetings have ceased during the Pandemic. Online meetings are occurring for some groups, and others are waiting until on site meetings resume. Please see the latest event announcements on the right side of our home page.
(Bill George, SIG Coordinator February 21, 2023).

If you have an interest in a particular genealogy topic please volunteer to hold a monthly meeting, called a Special Interest Group or SIG, on that topic. We will help to arrange the meeting place and will publicize. It may seem counter-intuitive, but to host and/or present at a meeting is a great way to learn.

Please take advantage of the hard work of our volunteers and enjoy what the SIGs have to offer. Also note that August and December are the months that SIGs don't meet (with the exception of the over-achieving Publishing SIG).

If you're interested in geographical genealogy help, like Southern States, English or Scandanavian, please make an appointment with the Danville FamilySearch Center by calling either 925-360-9232 or 926-837-7010. More information about it is on our home page.

Please also review our Member Resources Document. All SIG information is listed as well as research help from the Danville FamilySearch Center volunteers and their weekly schedule.

Our SIGs are a benefit of being a member of the San Ramon Valley Genealogical Society. They are available to SRVGS members and guests can attend one SIG meeting for free.
