Who We Are

Our Mission

The San Ramon Valley Genealogical Society (SRVGS) provides a friendly, social and supportive environment through which we promote the study of Genealogy. We provide our members research assistance, educational opportunities, resources, and a forum for the exchange of information and ideas, while adhering to the highest standards of research and documentation. We serve the community through outreach programs and collaborating with other historical and genealogical organizations.

About Us

The San Ramon Valley Genealogical Society was formed in 1985 and currently has over 120 members. We meet on the third Tuesday of every month (except August and December) from 10:00 to noon, usually on Zoom. Meetings are occasionally held at our in-person meeting site at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints, 2949 Stone Valley Road, Alamo, California (see map). Each meeting includes a speaker who is an expert in some aspect of family research. Our meetings are open to members, guests and visitors

SRVGS members volunteer as docents at the Danville Public Library and the FamilySearch Centers in Alamo, Oakland and Livermore. Our members hold offices in other local genealogical societies and present workshops and programs for other organizations. Many of our members have published books, family histories, diaries, records and letters as well as produced oral history and family reunion videotapes.

The Board of Directors meets at 10 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except August and December). The meetings are currently held via Zoom and any member is welcome to attend. To receive a Zoom meeting invitation, please email our president at president@srvgensoc.org.
